Check engine light weird

i drive a 1990 ford f 150 5.0 v8 2wd and
when i am not pressing the gas my check
engine light comes on and then when i press
the gas it goes away. after pressing the gas
and then letting off for about 5 seconds it will
then come back on. sometimes it dies and i
am able to start it right back up though. Help
please.

I have 150,000 miles on my truck, boots on spark plug are going bad...supposedly around my truck dated 2004 is infamous for this issye...I've been slowly replacing mine tat $130 a pop. They've been going bad one-by-one that past year or so.4 more to go and one needs replaced as of today actually.
