My car feels like its horsepower has been cut in half, what could cause this?

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

my car feels like its horsepower has been cut in half. I can have the pedal to the floor and
it won't go very fast. If I'm going up any incline I have to be in 1st gear maybe could get
into 2nd. Even on the highway I can barley sustain 5th gear, it just barley goes faster. It's a
2.2 Ecotec engine. 03 chevy cavalier. 5 speed.

Check your air filter and check your exhaust. Sounds like it can't breathe. Check the air coming out of the tail pipe. Should be steady gentle puffs.
