Are the 1996 S320's known to have Head gasket, Crank seal, or transmission problems.

Need to know if I replace the batteries in the remote will that activate the automatic door-looking feature.  Want to make sure I can enjoy my car just purchased 10/18/07.  allmond_mo@yahoo.com

Check out www.carsurvey.org for some real-life user reviews of this car and the problems or experiences they have had. Replacing the batteries in your remote MAY activate the auto locking feature again, assuming the wiring in the remotes is not broken, as sometimes is the case in older vehicles. You may also have had the feature turned off by a previous owner, which will require reprogramming the BCM to turn the feature back on.
