Question type: Maintenance & Repair

95 MB S500. Shifter is fully functional. Wont move out of
park until brake is depressed etc. But, transmissiin doesnt
shift into any gear. Shift into reverse...back up lights come
on etc. Shifting up or down feels a little lose, like there is no
linkage

Your right, there is linkage and they have bushings that get crunchy and fail. The linkage actually may have been broken free. There is an upper and lower arm linkage to transmission and that part may have gotten corroded and is swinging free. Usually the only way to tell is on a lift to access those hard to reach areas.
