04 Avalanche 1500 4wd

my rear end is going out. it's about $1700
avg. for a new one. I can have mine rebuilt
for $150 labor and about $350 in parts. it is
a very good mechanic who will be doing
the work. is it worth my money to rebuild?

Sure, if wouldn't hesitate to have it repaired if you want to continue to drive it. $500 is a small price to pay these days.

Thank you so much. I'm just a little scared that rebuilt means more problems.

If they are experienced in working on differentials you should go for it. If they don't know how to set up the gear clearances you should not use them.
