I have a 2002 Toyota Highlander. Replaced alternator, now car won't accelerate properly?

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

My car just had alternator replaced, and on the way home from the shop I
noticed that it wasn't accelerating properly.  Everyone is telling me the
alternator has NOTHING to do with this, but it did not start this until it was
replaced.   Any help?  It was placed on a rollback to get to the shop, so
logically it could be trash in the fuel filter?  Could it be the alternator killed
the battery to the point it isn't running the injectors properly?  It was time to
get a tune up and replace timing belt, but I would really like to know
(logically) what caused this immediately after an alternator replacement.
any help is appreciated thank you!

Yes but it was prior (like I said it was time for tune up), but it definitely did not have these symptoms prior.

Yeah I don't think this guy has a computer hook up....I will have to take it to a separate mechanic shop for that. I will start with possible connection problems with alternator first, and let you know what happens. THANK YOU!

Lack of battery voltage could have made it run poorly, but a check engine light should have been illuminated. It is possible that the replacement alternator is defective or the wrong one for the vehicle. If your mechanic doesn't even have a simple scan tool he needs to replaced with one that does.

I live in a very rural area so there are several shops that don't have the computer. This is this first time I have needed one. I will let you know what I find out.
