Car battery died (open car door). Tried to jump, but no success. Cables warmed up and old battery bubbled. Replaced battery, but car will not turn over and no accessories are getting power.

Check all fuses and have the alternator tested

begin with check all fuses, just like CamaroCollector says. If they are all good, try taking a jumper cable from battery NEG -- Black, to frame of car. See what happens. If that gives you power to anything, it's the battery ground cable not making contact. If not, leave that extra ground in place, and run a jumper from Pos+ battery directly to starter, the big wire+ red. Key on , in Park or neutral with parking brake set < Don't run yourself over if it lurches!! If still no, try the same thing from a jump car. If none of these things do anything, the starter may be bad or starter solenoid.

I've checked the fuses - all seem intact and normal. I also checked the battery ground wires - they are connected and unbroken. My son-in-law suggested that the ignition switch might be defective. Would this be a possible cause for the car's symptoms? (will not turn over and all accessories appear dead). Thanks, Brad
