My 1991 toyota celica starts on its own

Asked by Jon1_Jones May 11, 2016 at 07:24 PM about the 1991 Toyota Celica GT Coupe FWD

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

When turned off and exiting the car it wants to start up on its own and if in gear (stick shift) it will actually travel. I need to either disconnect the battery or remove the fuse for peace of mind. It sounds like an electrical problem. Any ideas where?

The starting circuit needs to be checked! from the ignition switch to the starter itself. It will require a multimeter and some basic skills or have it done. Regards
