1991 toyota celica keeps dieing.

Asked by Thomas Dec 28, 2017 at 04:17 PM about the 1991 Toyota Celica GT-S Hatchback FWD

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I have a 1991 toyota celica gts 2.2L. Whenever the
engine gets up to running temperature its just
shuts down completely. I'm not able to start it
again untell it cools down enough. What could it
be?

1 Answer

On my 94 celica, the coolant temperature sensor was causing the engine to stall once hot. If engine rpms go up and then stalls, replace the coolant temperature sensor.
