Coolant leak

Asked by GuruBCCG2 Dec 28, 2018 at 07:17 AM about the 1994 Toyota Camry LE V6

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

1994 Toyota Camry. Kept overheating
and all coolant would leak out
overnight every night. If I put stop
leak in it stays okay for a little bit but
by next drive it does same thing. Now
I have no heat either. Where should I
start? I was thinking of replacing
thermostat to start but not sure

You must identify the exact place from where the coolant is dripping. 1. Add some coolant to your radiator. 2. Drive the car around a few to warm the engine and open the thermostat. 3. Park the car. 4. Open the hood and use a flashlight to search for the exact point from which coolant is leaking. It might be necessary to look for this point of leak from under the car engine. This might be next to impossible in a Toyota. It might be necessary to lift the whole car, using a mechanic's car lift, to search under the engine for the leak.
