Strange probelems here...

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

Alright, so long story short, I went threw a little flood water
during Harvey. Maybe a little deeper than I should, up to
the top of the tires if not a little over for a few seconds. I
drive a 2005 Z71 chevy avalanche. Couple days later my
cooling fans start kicking on when the truck is off and stay
on all night, killing the battery and then after a charge the
engine light comes on. I run the codes, get back a PO-
327,332,&480. Couple knock sensors and a cooling fan
sensor issue. I pull the fuse for the cooling fan out so
battery doesn't die at night or while at work but I put it
back in when I drive. I do that for a day, get home from
work. Then I get out to the truck and my remote key isn't
working(battery is fine I checked the one in that one too),
go to start it and it won't start. It turns over, it starts to
fire..and then dies. Not getting any codes out of the truck
now and the front doors no longer have any electronic
functions(door lock, windows, mirrors) but the back doors
can still roll their windows down. Really confused...

Checked fuses, all are good. I also put 10g of gas in and the fuel gauge says empty. The truck was nearly empty, but never got a low fuel warning while coming home.

I suppose you could trace out the wiring loom and find all the plugs and unplug them and dry them out. Clearly you have moisture in the system and if it stays there you will have corrosion too. No easy way out of this one. Use contact cleaner to clean the connections and dielectric grease to help keep moisture out the next time.

Well I'm hoping that isn't the main issue, hopefully can narrow it down to something minor. New I should have lifted this truck sooner, all these damn floods here in Houston. Rains hard for an hour or two and then your stuck for an hour or two....or 6..
