Changing tire size back to manufacturer recommendations.. will it help ride and gas mileage?

I need to buy new tires for my 4 runner. In researching the size I found the current tires are not the manufacturer's recommended size. If I purchase the recommended tires will the vehicle sit lower and thus be easier for me to get into  (I'm 5'2") and will it ride smoother and get better gas mileage?
manufacturer recommendation P 265/70/R16
current tires                           LT 265/75/R16 112/1090 (Goodyear Wrangler Duratrac)
I think the previous owner "lifted" the body too but am not sure. (see picture)

The 265/70R16 recommended tire size will be one inch in diameter smaller than the current tires, so the car will sit half an inch lower. It won't make a very significant difference, but your speedometer should read properly with the recommended tire size. Smooth ride and gas mileage are more affected by tread pattern. It depends on what terrain and conditions you drive your vehicle in. The Duratracs are good off- road and in mud or snow, but if you mostly drive on the road and don't see much snow, you could go with a different tire with less aggressive tread, such as the Wrangler SR-A, or even the Assurance Fuelmax if you want really good gas mileage, but I wouldn't recommend the fuelmax tires in the snow.

Thank You Dorian. I moved from Northern Nevada to Florida so the snow isn't a factor now. With all the small town speed traps , accurate speedometer is good idea.

I have 2018 4Runner from Tom Pappas Toyta and bend told by sevise that tired not the proper tire . They had device tech drive 20 miles said there no problems with the vehicle. Don’t buy a 4Runner with Dunlap tires. You can call me 314 308 8674
