1996 4runner Car speedometer not working and tachometer resting at 0 when idling

Asked by Sup3rChr15 Nov 02, 2017 at 07:25 PM about the 1996 Toyota 4Runner 4 Dr SR5 4WD SUV

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

So my odometer works, and my trip meter. Temp
gauge seems to work, fuel gauge works fine, but
my speedo needle doesn't move at all, and when
I'm idling my tach needle sits on 0, but when I drive
it moves up. I'm thinking it's reading low, is there a
simple trouble shooting step or series of steps I
could use to check this out?
