Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I have a 1993 toyota 4 runner automatic with 3.0 engine. The 10 amp fuse
behind glove box instantly blows when putting in a new one. The green light
on switch is never on, I have reversed heater and ac relays and unplugged ac
switch and it still blows! I bought it this way so don't know history. I have tried
as high as a 20 amp with the same results.

I would guess that you have a dead short somewhere in the AC wiring. Installing a high amp fuse could start a fire!

But where!!!! what is after the fuse, nothing before could cause it to blow and its before the switch also! I even bypassed the pressure valve to see if comp would come on but of course it wouldnt if there is no fuse and no power to switch! It has an aftermarket radio and alarm (alarm doesnt work) radio does but cant fathon anything that could of been mis wired installing either! I'm going to remove the alarm tomorrow as it's not needed anyways but know that wont solve my problem! HELP!!!

I did notice tonight that my lights at night when headlamps are on don't light on heater/fan controls. Any clues?

Every thing on heater and blower work correct except the lights and of course ac.

Trace the wiring out and see what you find. I can't think of any "short" cut to finding a short ;)

I have the same problem with one of the 96. Now the adventure is to look for cable that causes it. Thanks guys!
