My 2002 Toyota Prius won't accelerate

My 2002 Prius stopped accelerating after I drove it about 70 miles today. The
check engine light had been on for 60 miles. Once it died, I pulled over but the
battery system didn't work at the lower speeds either, even though the lights in
the vehicle were still on. I turned the car off and it worked again and it
happened repeatedly for the last 20 miles. After it had been sitting for a while it
worked longer without dying. What could be wrong with it? I can trade it in but
it will be expensive so I'm trying to decide if it is more expensive to trade it or
fix it.

That CEL was trying to tell you something. Get the codes read to find out what is going on.

Dont no how old tbis post i...but my car used to do the same thing it would stop on me and i would have to pull over for a bit and it would turn right back on and have power..anyways i changed the water compressor pump..that was my problem..hope thos helps if u still have the

Our 2006 Prius doesn't have AC when car is sitting hot and battery charge indicates low. It seems to work fine in cooler temps. Guages read ~30psi low side and 190psi on the high. The condenser looks clean and the fans are running. It seems to have something to do with the battery charge level being low and only when hot inside the car. There are no fault codes and the battery modules all read almost exactly the same with diagnostic software reading the OBDII port.
