My car will turn over but not stay on.

I've actually had this problem before. I'm assuming it has gas in the tank. Clean the throttle plate or butterfly. It's between the air filter box and the intake. Clean it with carb cleaner. They tend to get a film on them and the butterfly won't close all the way.
