What are the wires that come off of the alternator on 92 subaru legacy non turbo?

One is the output, to charge the battery and run the car, the biggest one, and if it has an external regulator that will be a smaller wire. I didn't look up Subaru, that is a generic answer

...I don't believe this unit has "intelligence" built into it, like DavidH25 says just the three wires, one of them to the sensor-
