If wrong anti freeze then it does need replaced. Might just be running hot due to low coolant. When you added the coolant did you burp all the air out of the system? If not that's why it's getting hot.

What kind did you put in? I have a 1999 Grand Prix GT and mine takes dex cool (the red stuff). If you did put the wrong antifreeze in, I would definitely get it checked out and get it replaced if you have to

You will need to have the system flushed professionally and then have it properly filled with the manufacturer's recommended coolant.
