When you replaced your water pump, you either got a defective pump (causing no circulation), have a slipping belt (causing low or no circulation), or left air in the system. The air is probably the issue and can be solved by "bleeding" it out. Jump on the internet and search "bleeding air from the cooling system of a car" and you will find some how-to advice. Too lengthy to put here.

Sounds like it was trapped air and you released it. Make sure the cooling system is filled to the right level and motor on.
