Starting

Asked by Matthew Jan 01, 2016 at 03:00 PM about the 2005 Pontiac Grand Prix Base

Question type: General

Father in law changed the side post
terminals to top post. Car turns over but
will not start. I noticed one time prior to
this terminal fix, a wire coming from the
harness and,  at the end a hard black
plastic circle thing that I think one of the
batterie  leads went through. It is now
hanging to the side. Where does that go?
Again engine turns over and if I put my foot
fully on the peddle, it sounds like the
timing is of and almost wants to start.
Please help!

I would say it is just a bad battery connection. Check and clean all the connections and make sure they are tight.

that hard black circle thing may be a current transformer that reads the battery voltage. go to your driver information panel and scroll through to see what the battery voltage is. if it isn't reading anything that could keep the computer from letting your car start.
