Question type: Maintenance & Repair

alright, so if you're experienced with overheating Grand
Prixs I need a solution. ANY solution no matter the cost
and please don't say to sell it or just get a new one, this one
has sentimental value lol Kay, so before i even started on
this car, it had to have new head gaskets, valves and etc...
i've changed the thermostat, bled the air lines countless
times, new radiator so it only very little still heats up much
passed the middle line on the 'gauge' but yesterday when I
was coming home from work, it got really hot so when I got
home I shut it off and popped the hood and noticed coolant
everywhere and heard something the sounded like bubbles
going into the engine... what do y'all think? this has been 3
months now since I owned the car and it's getting REALLY
frustrating. I don't want it to be another scraped Pontiac  :(

Have you checked to make sure your cooling fans are operating? Sounds like you have looked at all the other obvious causes except this and the water pump.

okay... well I just got off work and tested to the best of my ability the water pump. it seems to be circulating fine. BUT What you said about the stop leak. yes it had stop leak in it but the radiator is new since. could it be backed up in the system?

as for the cooling fan, when I hook up the computer it says low circuit fan 1.. any idea what that would mean? the fans seem to be working. even if the car runs hot and I shut it off one if not both is still running.

ok so I found a coolant leak about 10 mins ago, around my thermostat housing. should my car have ever had a gasket? like the one in the pic? I've changed my thermostat and when I did it never had this gasket.

Yes, it needs a gasket. Putting one in will stop your leak. Glad you found it.
