2004 grand prix

Asked by Devin Sep 19, 2018 at 09:51 PM about the 2004 Pontiac Grand Prix GT1

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I have a 2004 Grand Prix gt and the temperature needle is
going 1 line past the half way line but then goes down
about 40 seconds later. Is this a problem. I took to a local
mechanic and he said that it isn’t a problem should I be
worried

Not a problem by itself. Your temp will fluctuate as the thermostat opens and closes and your cooling fans turn on and off. However, if the gauge begins to get into the red or high zone, I would have it looked at before any serious damage occurs.
