Turn the key to the run position without starting the car. You should hear the fuel pump run for a few seconds and then stop. If it does it's unlikely that its the fuel pump. If there's nothing then its time for a new pump and filter. Whatever it is, find the problem before you start replacing parts or you'll spend a fortune and get nowhere.
