the best thing to do is take it to your local GM dealer- they will have the necessary tools to diagnose it quickly using the computer. some possibilities are wheel speed sensors (would trigger abs and trac light)- service engine can be anything from an oxygen sensor to a loose gas cap- your car's computer will have stored codes on these lights and they have the right equipment to retrieve those codes and tell you what needs to be done.

I'll bet that it's not the engine light. It sounds like a bad wheel speed sensor. Around a $300 repair bill or you can do it yourself if you're handy. Go to GAOwnerClub.com for more info and DIY instructions.
