ABS light keeps coming on in car and shutting our engine off

Asked by Dothan2018 Feb 06, 2018 at 01:26 AM about the Pontiac Grand Am

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

Our ABS light in our car keeps coming on and
shutting our engine off is this a expensive fix if we
take it to a mechanic and what do we need to do
about it? Is this serious? We have to keep jumping
the car off to get it going

This may be as simple as a bad battery or, possibly, alternator. Jump it and take it to a parts store. Leave the car running and have them check the bat/alt. It is usually a free service. As for the ABS light, I doubt it is properly sensing if the electrical system is not functioning. Fix the starting issue first and then go after the ABS light if it still lights up. It may just be a wheel sensor.
