Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I have a 2001 Grand AM SE V6. When I drive it the security light comes on and when I turn it off and try to start it back up it won't. By accident I discovered that if I leave the key in the on position till the security light stops blinking and goes off the car will start. This happens every time. How can I fix this problem. PLEASE SOME ONE GIVE ME SOME ANSWERS.

Hi liz77511, This is a common problem/complaint among Grand Am owners of this model year. It seems that the "ignition lock cynlinder" is the cause of the issue and possibly needs to be replaced (more than likely by the dealership). Good luck!
