Question type: Maintenance & Repair

While driving my 2000 grand am 2.4 liter it
started making a knocking noise an didn't
wanna shift into 2nd gear . But once it Did it
wouldn't go past 40 then made a loud boom
followed by loss of power an smoke from
the pipes along with smoke from under the
hood . Had it towed back home an noticed
some oil leaking not a lot .. an now won't
start . Smelled a weird like rubber smell
after the initial boom an loss of power
followed by the smoke.

That might be a rod knock. Maybe your threw a rod or seized the engine. Did you run it out of oil?
