Coolant burning out

I have a 2003 Montero sport.What would cause the coolant
to burn out and cause it to overheat?

You have an import as I do and therefore you cannot just put in cheap Jim Bob coolant.. on Volkswagen the reservoir is labeled G12. That is the recommended coolant. G40 is also compatible. It's possible that it is burning off somewhere. Never use just plain water it will boil over and knock out a freeze plug. Plan b) you could have a crack in your block and coolant will seek out that crack and go out with exhaust. This is why driving through flooded streets is a no no. Cold water on a hot block creates shock and could create that crack. That is an older car. It could be anywhere
