Is it possible to fix a 2002 Mitsubishi Montero sport that has jumped time?

Asked by wjohnson May 14, 2015 at 03:58 PM about the 2002 Mitsubishi Montero Sport LS 4WD

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

When I try to start the vehicle, it produces a high pitched squealing whine. I was told the
problem is the timing belt. Is this repairable?

yes but you need to verify it is the timing belt or the engine belt just slipping or the idler pulley loose or seized up or something the timing belt is inside the engine and I don't want you to take it apart unnecessarily to fix something that doesn't need fixed
