My 2002 Mitsubishi montero sport will not stay started.

I have a 2002 mitsubishi montero sport and today i changed out the bad starter with a new
one from autozone.Now the car will start but will not stay started.and if it does stay
started it will shut off when i come to a stop at a light or when im in traffic..what is
it..please help..

Do you have the right key? If started with a key made, and not a programmed transponder key, it will not stay running when started..

These are computerized and the keys are chipped so you can't just change it the ignition and key it needs don't by dealer.. if you put a key not pair with the car the computer sits it down with thought that's its stolen.. it's safety precaution so no one can go far..
