Have a 2001 Mitsubishi eclipse spider how can you tell if you have a blown head gasket? Can I do something to check before tearing down car to get to gasket?

Coolant in oil? Oil look like a milkshake? Oil in coolant? Dark colored coolant? Coolant lose but can't find a leak? White smoke out exhaust pipe? Which engine? 2.4L?

you can do a combustion leak test. it involves pulling air from the radiator through a test fluid to see if it changes color. The kit is about 40 bucks and scottykilmer.com has a great youtube vid on how to do it.

You will blow white smoke out of the tail pipe and also the water in radiator will have oil mixed in with it look like chocolate shake
