Interior tones are sounding in the cabin intermittently.

Asked by Guru2LTPY Feb 26, 2020 at 10:14 PM about the 2004 Mercury Grand Marquis LS Ultimate

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

Everyone is used to the tone you get when you don't buckle your seatbelt but
besides that my Grand Marquis started delivering a tone regularly every 20
minutes while the car is operating. It sounds a dozen times or so then repeats
in another 20 minutes. I can't find anything that indicates what it might be
signaling or how to turn it off.  Does anyone have any ideas.

Does the seat belt warning light come on in the dash? I'm thinking a bad wire in the seat belt buckle, maybe it has to be replaced. Otherwise, headlights left on, or key in with door open set it off, and those things would be hard to trace down. If that were the case, I'd just disconnect the chime(wherever it is).

I'd like to disconnect it wherever it is. It's not even the same tone as the seatbelt tone.
