00 Grand Cherokee slow coolant leak, low heat

Asked by GuruBD38S Dec 08, 2018 at 04:09 AM about the 2000 Jeep Grand Cherokee Laredo 4WD

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

No/very low ac or heat flow from side vents. The highest
speed setting is the only one that works. Defrost and center
vents blow but only on highest setting. Replaced water
pump and thermostat 2 weeks ago. Looses coolant slowly
and reservoir tank stays full, so I top off radiator. Can't pin
point the leak, blows warm air when it's set on heat. AC was
acting the same in summer time, never got cold after I
recharged it. I was thinking about flushing heater core, not
sure if it could be a combination of issues but don't want to
replace heater core unless I had to.

Flushing core can only help. Put a pressure tester on the system and look for your leak. Also sounds like your blower resistor is bad. Finally, I believe you are correct, you have a combination of issues. Fix your leak first.

Sounds like a cracked head gasket is one of your problems. Very common in 2000 models.
