My 1998 jeep grand Cherokee limited does not idle...

My jeeps battery died the other day and there was a clicking sound coming from
console/dash area,I charged the battery and since then it don't start/idle.i can press the
gas pedal and it will start but I have to keep it idling with gas pedal as soon as I let off,it
dies...I started it and drove about a half mile with no problems besides me having to
press the gas pedal to keep it idling at stops..any ideas as to what it could be,no
problems at all before battery died((((door wasn't closed all the way and interior lights
stayed on and drained battery)))
