Car stalling

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I have a 2004 GMC Yukon Xl,  it started just
dying while driving last year. We replaced the
fuel pump, it seemed to get alot better for
about 3 months then started again. So we
replaced the fuel pump again. So the check
engine light came back on again, so we
replaced the evap canister,  then both catalytic
converters, spark plugs and wires. It seemed to
be ok again, but started doing the same thing
again today. I have put in over a $1000.00 in the
last 2 weeks. The check engine light came back
on yesterday and it started doing the same
thing again. It is like it looses compression or
almost stalls out. When I am lucky enough to
get it in a safe place to park, I can hold the gas
pedal all the way to the floor and it barely will
go up to 1000 rpm. I can cut it off for a second
and it will crank right back up, then drive ok for
a few miles then the same thing again. When
they check it for the codes it always says a lean
code, a random misfire and an exhaust leak.
The Mechanics have said well change the
catalytic converter and it will take care of the
problem,  one mechanic said that the 02 sensor
was bad, but the other repairs would fix all.of it.
What else can I do except stick a piece of
dynamite up the tail pipe???? Thanks for any
and all help and suggestions.

No, it almost sounds like a vacuum line is broken, someone did suggest that it could be a bad coil, and of course it has 8 of those...when you hold the gas to the floor, it makes almost like a whirring sound, and will not go, my Mom had a 2010 Sierra, and hers did almost the same thing, they said it was a fuel sensor. I think the mechanics see a woman and think we'll let's drain her dry, and they have. I have done everything that they said to do and then they keep saying well it will reset and it will be ok. But this has been going on for over a year now. Sometimes it drives perfectly and then the next day it goes crazy. We have replaced the fuel pump 2 times now, it has the parts for a flex fuel but they aren't being used so we have to get the parts for a 03. Again I am ready to shove a stick of dynamite up her tail pipe and call it a day. Thanks so much for the reply and I will contact the mechanics and tell them.your suggestion. It is driving me crazy at this point.

The same exact thing is happening to my 2004 Yukon XL. It seems that first it stops accelerating, then a few seconds later, when the car slows to a roll, it stalls out.. I usually have to wait about 20 min to start it up again. The engine turns over forever but never starts, and all the lights and radio work. It seems to happen on longer drives. i know engines need 4 things to run. Air, spark, fuel, and compression. Any ideas what might be going on??
