Audi heating/cooling system problems...

Asked by migration_moiseslask... Apr 17, 2016 at 07:18 PM about the 2002 Audi A4 1.8T quattro AWD

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I have an Audi A4 Quattro turbo model
from 2002, and I've been having a lot of
problems with the heating/cooling system.
One problem I have is when I first turn on
my car, before it gets hot, the radiator fan
turns on instantly, and after a while it turns
off, then once it heats up again it turns on
again. It's been a draw from the deck,
every time I use the car i wonder if it's
gona over heat... There was a leak
because of a cracked dorman water outlet
I replaced it but it still seems like the
system isn't functioning like it should... The
heater only blows out room temp air and
the bottom radiator hose/pipe is cold even
after the top one gets hot should I replace
the water pump and thermostat or just one
or the other. I heard it could just be the
thermostat.

I recently did my thermo , I had just warm air and now its perfect. my temp gauge was staying down while driving and would only go to normal position when parked up for a period with engine running. my mechanic said if it was water pump the car would over heat. so the thermo fixed mine, hope this is some help.

most likely is the thermo stat or water pump. I would not put across a bad 4 point connector on the side of the engine. usually has a sensor in it. often leaks there and throws the sensor off. but this sounds like a flow issue so i defantly have to say thermo or pump.
