Question type: Maintenance & Repair

Hi I have 2000 gmc truck  and replacing my ignition lock housing because of
my passlock  security light shown up in two stage first the light comes on
solid and after that flashes which means I can't drive have to wait 10 minutes
with key in the on position. So I was told to replace my ignition lock housing
since I already place my ignition key few years ago. So I replace it but now
running into problems with my  dash lights are on with now key in the
ignition.

When replacing the ignition lock with a new key on any vehicle newer, the passlock system needs to be reprogrammed to the new lock cylinder and key. Dealers and certain mechanics have the proper equipment to do so, call around your area. Without these diagnostic tools, there is no other way unless you buy it yourself, but it is hundreds of dollars. Some larger locksmiths who work on autos might be able to help you to avoid a tow.
