Why is truck only starting cold?

Asked by James Apr 16, 2022 at 06:06 PM about the 2000 GMC Sierra 1500 SLE Extended Cab LB

Changed plugs coils and wires truck will still only start cold
then turn over and make whining noise seems like fly wheel
spins and can hear fuel pump battery has 12.6 volts
wondering if bad ground or electrical somewhere I'm at a loss
and don't want to change starter just to have same issue

it could be a junk starter if you got the bargain one from auto zoo . If you can test for voltage at the starter solenoid when you hit the key , It could also be a voltage drop on the juice wire from the batt to the starter you'll need a multi tester ., when wires get hot they have more resistance .
