2005 Dodge Grand Caravan won't start

Okay so when the key is turned there is no sound what so ever. The starter was fine the battery was fine the lights in the dash all light up and the radio works but nothing happens when I turn the key beyond all of that lighting up. Tested the wire connected to the starter and it appears to be fine as well. When I say no sound I mean no sound what so ever when I turn the key the dash lights and needles all move normally and the radio kicks on but beyond that nothing happens. I'm not sure what to check at this point been getting conflicting advice on what I should do next.  My husband argues against checking the ignition switch.
