When I turn car on I can drive fine but when I put on brakes and then the gas it will not go into gear don't know when if ever transmission was flushed.

Asked by William Apr 13, 2015 at 02:18 PM about the 2001 Ford Explorer Sport 2WD

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I was driving and my od light started
flashing. Then not even 5 min later I lost
acceleration. If I park the vehicle and restart
it I can drive until I stop then no acceleration
again.  I do not know when the last time if
ever the transmission was flushed.  It has
200,000 miles it's my work vehicle and I'm
150 miles from home. Need cheap fix until I
can figure this out. Will flushing the fluid
help?

Flushing the fluid will give you an idea of the transmissions condition, you may have a partially plugged filter which will starve the pump.
