I have a 2001 Ford Explorer and when I accelerate my car, sometimes the car struggles to shift into gears. Is this a transmission problem?

What engine & trans do you have? It could be that you have an over plug coil going bad. It could also be that the electronic trans has trouble deciding to downshift out of over drive. I had this happen with my f150. Try turning off the od when it starts and see if it stops. if so its a trans problem that needs to be looked at by a company that has a computer to reset the calibration for shifting.
