Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I have a 1999 explorer. door key does not turn door lock, can I lift the lock knob to simulate using the door key to unlock? or must I remove the door panel and push/pull locking rod?

Try it. Lifting the "lock knob" is the same as pulling the lock rod (unless the lock rod has gotten disconnected). Have you tried lubricating the lock cylinder with graphite or WD-40?
