Question type: Maintenance & Repair

Hi all,
I've been told I am in need of a new rear differential as mine is on the way out and whining. I have a 2003 Ford Explorer XLT, 4.6L V8, and was wondering if I most parts of a 2002 Eddie Bauer Edition Ford explorer, with a 4.0L V6, would have a large amount of compatible parts I'd be able to interchange. I know the transmissions are different, obviously the motors as well, but what about the rest of the drive train? Also the electronics?
Thanks in advance
Ryan

Tom, thanks for the fast reply! I feel like I'd rather buy a parts truck, so that I end up with a rear diff I can use, as well as some new tires, and then a mess of other parts I can use to maintain my Explorer. This is why I was considered with not only the compatibility of the rear differential, but of other parts as well. Is there any chance you would know if the two are compatible for the most part? (startor, alternator, drivetrain, electrical components, etc.)

Almlsr all if not all parts should interchange as long as the motors and gear ratios match. As for the electronic components you may have to swap parts of harness but I dont think you'll have to. Should all work
