Spark Plugs on 2005 Ford Expedition

Asked by FYJ1962 Oct 07, 2020 at 01:45 PM about the 2005 Ford Expedition Eddie Bauer 4WD

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I have a 2005 Ford Expedition (230,000 miles). Spark plugs have never
been changed.  It started skipping.  Went to Auto Zone and had diagnostic
done.  there is a misfire on #6.
Took to mechanic to have all spark plugs replaced and probably coil pack on
#6.  He called be back and recommended only replace #6 and coil pack
since that is the problem.  Said it would cost me too much extra if spark
plugs broke when they were removing them.
Should the spark plugs not be replaced at this time?  Would it not cost be
extra labor every time I had to replace another spark plug?

It is a miracle that your engine still runs. You can do the one plug but the rest will fail very soon.

Or if you have a stupid mechanic like I had who broke the first one he started to change and then said he wouldn't be able to do the job. Now I have no vehicle. At least it was running when I took it to him to fix but now I will have to get it towed out of there and look for someone who can do the job that he messed up. Good Luck.
