Expedition transmission problems

Asked by Ed Jan 28, 2016 at 01:57 AM about the 2003 Ford Expedition XLT

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I have a 2003 expedition, ran good and drove good
buy it started to smoke, so I pulled the battery and
removed the heads and re done them, put it back
to gether and it starts and runs good again but it
would not move when put in any gear, then it
moved back when in reverse, and nothing forward
untill the RPM was gotten high then it went forward
an now it only goes forward even if the selector is
in neutral or reverse, I would like some ideas to try
before I change the transmission if any one can
help

O never took the transmission apart and only took stuff of the engine, so how would they get gummed up, the battery was out for a while and was wandering if there were some sort of reset pattern to reset the computer

You could try and change the trans fluid and add some Lucas transmission fix.
