why won't my Ford E 250 cargo van crank over???

Ford 2004 E250 Cargo van won't crank over once its been ran for a while and
gets hot. Later that evening when cooled off it will start and run just fine????

It won't crank over as in the starter is not engaging or it doesn't want to fire up?

I'm starting to think it's possibly a temp sensor. I have located one behind the alternator that screws into the block not sure where the other is located.
