2000 chevy 2500 single cab

Asked by Keithcone Apr 28, 2016 at 08:09 PM about the 2000 Chevrolet Silverado 2500 LB RWD

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

So I'm having problems with my chevy. When I go
to start it up I turn the key and have to hold it for
about 4 or 5 seconds as it is trying to start over.
After awhile it starts up. It's a 6.0 five speed single
cab 8 ft bed. What could be the problem

Try air filter bypass. Open the air filter area and start the truck. Then check the fuel cap for vapor lock by just undoing it and allowing air into the filler. Replace cap and try to start. Then buy a 4 dollar can of quick start. Spray directly into the intake as someone turns the key. Not too much, just a quick spray. If it starts it may just need a upper fuel area clean out. This line of attack works on any of my cars that are pre 2000 and been sitting awhile. Good Luck.

Well it does it when I first get in it. Then again after it sits for about 30 min or so
