mushy brakes

Put on pads and master cylinder on and still have mushy brakes.

Did you bench bleed the master cylinder? Did you bleed the brakes in the proper order? RR,LR,RF,LF. Do you have a caliper on the wrong side with the bleeder valve pointing down instead of up? Just putting pads on does not require opening the system and bleeding the brakes.
