Right brake light won't turn with switch until brake is applied

I was replacing tag lights today on a 01 Chevy
Silverado with LEDs but then all of a sudden the
LED didn't turn on, i then looked up and saw the
right brake light off, i pressed the brake pedal and
it turned on, but when switch is turned it doesn't
turn on, i checked bulb, connection, and wiring and
everything was good, but i haven't checked the
fuses yet and don't know which to check, and i
need help now sense its my fathers vehicle and i
don't wanna get in trouble with him.

Oh yes, the dreaded LED bulbs. They are beautiful and awesome when they 'error free' . Try removing the bulb and reversing it, 180 degrees. This may or may not work. If it doesn't, I'd suggest that you either buy led bulbs that are 'built in' with resistors or buy harnesses that are specifically for your vehicle. With these harnesses, all you do is plug in to it on one side and plug the other end to your led bulb. I've been through a few cars that wouldn't take anything led without any problems like hyper-flash , codes for lighting issues and actual lighting problems. Good luck , I hope you get it to work .

Well i didn't replace the break lights with LEDs, when i put the LED in it turned on but a couple seconds later it turned off and the braking bulb turned off as well, so i removed it and but in the stock one bulb and same thing.
