Oil pressure dropped

Asked by GuruF7B6S May 06, 2020 at 05:43 AM about the 2000 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 LB RWD

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I was drove my 2000 chevy 4.3l and noticed a
tapping sound so i pulled over and stopped as
soon as I put it in park the oil pressure light came
on I shut it off and check the oil its good. Waited
about 30 sec started it back up light was off drove
it home and noticed I didnt have very good oil
pressure. Is it that filter under the oil pressure
sending unit. How long would it take to just pull it
and pull the filter and put the unit back in im in a
time crunch

1 Answer

If it is the sending unit, its quick and easy but your gonna have to do an oil change. Change your filter, and replace your oil. You should be around 6q, put 4.5 q in and in place of the last 1.5 put in Lucas oil treatment. That will flush and clean the unit and get what ever is blocking it free. Worse case, new sending unit, cheap and easy except you may need a scanner to clear the codes from the engine.
